About the Austrian Society of Neurology (ANS)

The ANS was founded in 2000, as successor to the ÖGNP (Austrian Society for Neurology and Psychiatry.) The common interests of the medical specialties of neurology and psychiatry will continue to be represented under their joint umbrella organization.

The ANS is the organisation of Austrian neurologists. It represents neurologists on policy issues related to our profession and on scientific concerns, and furthers neurology in training and continuing education, and in teaching and research. It conducts public education and furthers cooperation with other professional groups, patients and other interested bodies.

The ANS board is elected by members every two years. An advisory committee assists the board on specific issues. The board may appoint committees and special representatives on specific themes. As a society of specialists, it maintains contacts with other international societies, is a member of the WFN, and participates in UEMS activities.
